In order to comply with new IT regulations that were released in 2021 as well as a court judgement, the Union government has requested that internet service providers remove 67 pornographic websites.
According to 63 websites that have been ordered blocked by the Department of Telecom (DoT), four websites have also been ordered blocked by the Uttarakhand High Court and the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).
The government claims that some of the indecent content found on the 67 websites tarnishes women’s reputations for modesty.
