The new strain of Novel Coronavirus has been discovered in United Kingdom. The UK government said that the virus is ‘out of control’ in parts of England. It is believed to be 70% more infectious. Millions of people have been forced to cancel their Christmas plans.
People have been asked to stay at home by UK PM Boris Johnson. He tweeted, “Given the early evidence we have on this new variant of the virus, and the potential risk it poses, it is with a heavy heart that I must tell you we cannot continue with Christmas as planned.”
Several countries have temporarily banned the passengers arriving from the UK. “Considering the prevailing situation in UK, the government of India has decided that all flights originating from UK to India to be suspended till 31st December,” said HS Puri, Aviation Minister.
Union Health Minister of India, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said there is no need to panic about it.
