Joe Biden, on Day 1 of his office, has won supporters from both US IT and Business groups with his proposal to initiate immigration reforms with an objective to boost American economy, attract talent from across the world and create jobs. He has sent a comprehensive immigration bill to the Congress that suggests granting citizenship to thousands of undocumented immigrants in the US.
The US Citizenship Act of 2021 proposes modern immigration system, with eye on eliminating cap on the per country, employment-based green cards. This move is believed to be beneficial for thousands of IT professionals from India.
Speaking on President Biden’s proposal, Google CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted “Google has supported action on these important issues & we look forward to working with the new administration to help the US recover from the pandemic + grow our economy,” he said.
Apple CEO Tim Cook also welcomed this proposal and said, “Commitment to pursuing comprehensive immigration reform that reflects the American values of justice, fairness and dignity”.
He further added “This effort will strengthen American communities and the pathways to opportunity this country has long fostered.”
