At the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 event held at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday, Sarfaraz Khan’s excellent undefeated 36 and Tanush Kotian’s all-around performance helped Mumbai, the 41-time Ranji Trophy champion, win its first championship.
In the low-scoring final, Mumbai decided to field and held Himachal to 143 for eight, overcoming some stressful moments to reach the goal with three wickets and as many balls to spare.
The Mumbai bowlers were disciplined and frequently took wickets, which put Himachal under a lot of strain.
