Aruna Miller, an Indian-American, made political history by becoming the first Indian-American candidate to win the election and take office as Maryland’s lieutenant governor. She will hold this significant role for the first time as a South Asian woman. Miller expressed his gratitude to Marylanders for their decision.
She received support and endorsements from significant Indian-American groups and individuals, including Ms. Miller, a former executive director of Indian American Impact, an organisation that advocates for Indian-American representation at all levels of government.
