Reports state that an earthquake with an estimated 7.7 magnitude hit several nations, including Turkmenistan, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, Chile, and Kyrgyzstan.
At around 10.20 p.m. on Tuesday, states in North India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, experienced strong tremors.
Afghanistan’s Kalafgan is thought to be 90 kilometres from the epicenter.
The earthquake is the result of the release of the Indo-Australian plate clashing with the Eurasian plate, according to J L Gautam, head of office and scientist at the National Center for Seismology.
