Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film, “Gangubai Kathiawadi”, starring Alia Bhatt, will hit theaters on January 6, 2022. The film is based on the life of Gangubai Kathiawadi, who was a prostitute but later became a laborer of sex. donation from the underworld in Mumbai.
The costumed film sees Bhatt as the title role of Gangubai, one of Kamathipura’s most powerful, loved and respected women of the 1960s.
Bhansali Productions shared the film’s release date on Thursday on its official Twitter account.
“The wait to witness His power, strength and resilience is over. I bring you a compelling story from #GangubaiKathiawadi on January 6, 2022, in theaters near you,” it reads in the tweet.
“Gangubai Kathiawadi” is also played by Seema Pahwa and has cameo appearances by Ajay Devgn and Huma Qureshi.
