The BCCI has announced an increase in monthly pensions for retired cricketers, both men and women, as well as former umpires, effective June 1, 2022.
First-class players, who previously received INR 15,000, will now earn INR 30,000, while former Test players, who previously received INR 37,500, would now receive INR 60,000 under the new system. Those having a pension of INR 50,000 will receive INR 70,000.
Women international players who previously received INR 30,000 will now earn INR 52,500, while first-class cricketers who retired before 2003 and formerly received INR 22,500 would now receive INR 45,000.
“I’m delighted to announce an increase in the monthly pension of retired cricketers (both men and women) and match officials,” said BCCI secretary Jay Shah. “Around 900 personnel will avail of this benefit and close to 75% of personnel will be beneficiaries of a 100 pc raise.”
