With the 1st test match to start between India and England on 5th February, the BCCI is mulling over the idea of bringing in crowd for the second test match to start on February 13th in Chennai.

Speaking about this development Tamil Nadu Cricket Association’s (TNCA) Secretary S Ramaswamy, “We have not received a formal communication in writing but we received a call from the BCCI today (Sunday) that we can explore the possibility of having crowds.”

He further added, “We will meet tomorrow and see if we can work out something. There is very little time between the first Test (February 5-9) and second. We don’t have vendors in place and we have also not printed tickets. We will see if it is possible at all.” Initially, it was decided that there will be no crowd during the first two tests, but there seems to be a change in plans.

Apparently, there has been a shift in England’s stance as well on this point, with the England team spokesman confirming, “We were always comfortable (having crowds). We want to support BCCI’s plans and protocols. We are collaborating and we are waiting to hear from them.”

The new development should cheer up the cricket lovers in the country as this is an indication that crowd would be allowed for the 3rd and 4th tests along with the T20 internationals and ODIs.
