From the remote village of Bara Mukhia in the Golgar district of Assam to Tokyo, Lovelyn has struggled against the old patriarchy and the toughest opponent in the ring. On Friday, Lovrina won India’s second medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, thus making history. Former world champion Chen Nianning from Taiwan reached the semifinals in the women’s welterweight quarter-finals.
Lovlina enters the semifinals and is guaranteed to win at least one bronze medal. On Friday, he won his last eight games 4-1 through a split decision. In the 1:8 final, Loughlin defeated Nadine Apez from Germany. He won the game 3-2 on Tuesday. In the semifinals, Lovrina met Turkish seeded player Busenaz Sulmeneli.

Lovlina won the first round 3-2, and three-fifths of the judges decided to support the Indian boxer. She dominates the next round of competition, and the judges unanimously decided that the second round was in her favor. In the third and final round, Lovelin won 4-1, thus ensuring her position in the semifinals.

Lovlina is the third Indian female boxer to win boxing medals for India at the Olympics after Mary Com and Vijender Singh. “The team won a decisive victory. Morale was low after Mary Com’s defeat, but Lovlinoy’s medal gave us new energy,” said Indian women’s boxing coach Ali Kamar.

“She used her height very well. Her height is her biggest strength, as no other boxer in her category is as tall as her. It was also a mental battle for her because she had gone through a lot in the past 1 year. We want her to win the gold” said Qamar.
