Produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra and Ali Abbas Zafar, Tandav web series released on Friday on Amazon Prime Video and has received average reviews so far. The web series has 9 episodes, and boasts of a powerful starcast, including Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Gauahar Khan, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Zeeshan Ayyub.
Today, twitter has been trending with ‘Boycott Tandav’ as in one of the scenes of the 1st episode of the series, actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub can be seen playing a role of Lord Shiva as a stage performer, where a conversation happens between him and another character that mock Hindu Gods and allegedly ‘hurts sentiments’ of Hindus.
In recent past, there has been a lot of criticism on part of majority of Indians, who feel that many web series on the OTT platforms have been presenting Hindus and Hinduism in bad light. People have been quite vocal about this trend and has been demanding withdrawal of such web series.
Recently, there has been an update from the I&B Ministry that all OTT platforms will come under its purview, and hopefully, it will bring out policies that will curb producers from making content that hurts people’s sentiments
