With a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium, Chennai Super Kings won their fifth Indian Premier League championship, tying their previous record.
In Mohit Sharma’s penultimate delivery, veteran Ravindra Jadeja ended the game with a six and a four to give Chennai a historic victory. Heavy rain forced the suspension of the summit match, and Chennai was given a revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs.
With this, MS Dhoni wins the prize of INR 20 crore, while Hardik Pandya takes home the INR 12.5 crore runner-up prize and shield. Eden Gardens and Wankhede Stadium also share the season’s best venue award, while Shubman Gill wins the Orange Cap (890) and Mohammad Shami the Purple Cap (28) awards.
