COVID vaccine jab for aged 15-18 years begins in India

Amid the rising cases of Omicron and COVID-19 globally, vaccination drive for the age group 15-18 years began today across India. On 25th December 2021, PM Modi had announced about it and also announced about the precautionary third dose for frontline workers and citizens above 60 years from January 10, 2022.

As per the information received by the States and UTs from the Centre, only ‘Covaxin’ is to be administered to the 15-18 age category. registration for the vaccination was made available from 1st January 2022 on the Co-Win portal. Youngsters can also walk-in directly to the vaccination centers to get their first dose.

States/UTs have been advised to train the vaccinators and vaccination teams before they administer vaccine to the 15-18 years age-group.
