On November 24, Union Education Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ launched 46 online AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), which will be conducted across 22 states of the country. This year nine thrust areas have been identified for these programmes, namely Artificial Intelligence, Data Sciences, Block Chain, Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Security, Quantum Computing, 3d Printing & Design and Augumented Reality (AR) / Virtual Reality (VR). The FDPs are aimed at teachers of higher educational institutions that are associated with All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Pokhriyal said ATAL Academy has been included in the Book of World Records and it is matter of pride for India. He informed that the FDPs being conducted by ATAL Academy has been recognized as a world record, for offering 1000 online FDPs in over 100 emerging areas. He added that these FDPs will be beneficial for more than one lakh faculty members across IITs, IITs, NITs and other higher educational institutions. A whooping Rs. 10 crores have been allocated for this year’s online FDP programme, which is being conducted as per the new National Education Policy (2020).
Prof. M.P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE said, “The main objective of ATAL Academy is to provide quality technical education in the country and to promote research and entrepreneurship through training in various emerging fields. IITs, IIITs, NITs CU and research labs are organizing these ATAL FDPs.”
Prof. Rajive Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE added that “These FDPs by AICTE are the need of the hour. With this, the teachers of higher educational institutions will educate the students according to the industry needs and equip them with varied kinds of skills. In the challenging times of Coronavirus, these programs are being run online, Resource persons across the globe are able to take sessions due to online nature of FDPs.”
The ATAL Academy was first formulated in 2018, and has been a huge success since the start.
