Legendary music composer and singer, Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69 in Mumbai yesterday around midnight due to obstructive sleep apnea. Fondly known as ‘Bappi Da’, Bappi Lahiri was a phenomenon in Hindi cinema in the 80s and 90s composing some of the biggest disco chartbusters. He is credited for popularising disco music in India.
According to the Director of the CritiCare Hospital, where Lahiri was hospitalised over a month and was discharged on Monday. However, his health deteriorated on Tuesday, after which he was again admitted to the hospital the same day. As per the doctor, Bappi Lahiri had multiple health issues and the main reason for his death was obstructive sleep apnea.
Condolence messages have pouring in since morning for the beloved Bappi Da from his well wishers and Hindi cinema lovers. His legendary, feet tapping music will remain etched in the hearts of music lovers in India, forever.
