When a guy sought to withdraw Rs 500 from a Nagpur ATM, it discharged five times the amount. He obtained five Rs 500 rupee notes from the cash dispenser.
When word got out, a big crowd gathered outside the ATM centre to withdraw cash.
Later, a bank client called local police, who raced to the scene and shut down the ATM centre, according to a Khaparkheda police station officer.
The currency notes of Rs 500 denomination were mistakenly put in the ATM tray designed to issue notes of Rs 100 value, according to the official.
