The Board of Control Council of India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the United Arab Emirates led by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Selection Committee Chairman Chetan Sharma.
Unexpectedly, R Ashwin has been included in the team that will start their campaign in the main tournament against the main rival Pakistan. He last played T20I with the West Indies in July 2017. Shikhar Dhavan and Yuzvendra Chahal are absent as former India captain MS Dhoni will be the team’s mentor.
Meanwhile, along with the original line-up, the selectors have also selected backup
roaming teams that will travel to the UAE with a team of 15 people using the
COVID19 protocol.
This is the Indian team at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021:
Virat Koli (captain), Rohit Sharma (VC), K.L. Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishab
Pant (week), Ishan Kishan (week), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar,
Ravichandran Ashvin, Aksar Patel, Varun Chakravarti, Jaysar Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar
Kumar and Shami.
Players await: Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar.
