India’s first-ever silver medal goes to Aanchal Thakur

Aanchal Thakur, dubbed “India’s snow queen,” has been in exceptional form over the past week at the uae alpine slalom championship (fis race) in Dubai. She won four silver medals and earned a spot in the world championships for the following year as a result.

In any international competition, no Indian had ever won an alpine skiing silver medal or higher before to this.

“My career’s best outcome to date is this. I beat my previous best. India had previously won a bronze medal, but this time I’ve moved India up a spot. Next time, I’ll do everything in my power to bring a gold medal “says Aanchal.
