KL Rahul named captain, Bumrah his deputy for SA ODI series

The Indian men’s team for the upcoming 3-match ODI series in South Africa was announced on 31st December 2021 and as per speculations, KL Rahul has been named as the Captain while speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been named his deputy by BCCI. 

The 18-member squad for the series looks pretty formidable on paper with the likes of Dhawan, Kohli, Rahul, Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Iyer, Kishan and Pant on the batting front and Ashwin, Bumrah, Siraj, Chahar, Bhuvaneswar Kumar on the bowling front.

With Rohit Sharma undergoing rehabilitation post his hamstring injury and unlikely to join the team for the series, Rahul became the choice of the selectors.
