The largest kamikaze drone strike, according to local officials, has been carried out by Russian forces in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, since Moscow began its full-scale invasion of the nation 15 months ago.
According to officials, 40 of the 59 incoming drones launched on Ukrainian sites in the early hours of Sunday were shot down by Ukraine’s air defence systems, who claimed to have downed 58 of them.
The chief of Kyiv’s military administration, Serhiy Popko, declared that this was the “largest drone attack on the capital since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.” Since the beginning of May, the capital has been the target of 14 air attacks, he continued.
