In a shocking incident, a life-size statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalized in Australia on Saturday. The statue, which has been gifted by the Indian government, was unveiled the previous day by Prime Minister Scott Morrison at the Australian Indian Community Centre in Rowville, a suburb of Melbourne.
Briefing the Australian media, the PM said “It is disgraceful and extremely disappointing to see this level of disrespect. Whoever is responsible for this has shown great disrespect to the Australian-Indian community and should be ashamed.”
Investigations have begun in this case and the investigation unit has urged the eye witnesses to come forward to give them any detail that will help them to solve this case at the earliest.
Apparently, this Australian Indian Community Centre is the first of its kind in the State of Victoria.
