Surat will be the first city in the country to have a steel slag road.

Union Steel Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh launched the first 6-lane highway built using steel slag in Surat to connect the port with the metropolis. In his speech, he underlined the need of establishing a circular economy and resource efficiency by transforming all waste into wealth.

He stated that Prime Minister Modi made a specific mention of supporting a circular economy since the world’s natural resources are depleting during his Independence Day speech in 2021. In such a circumstance, a circular economy is essential and should be made required as a part of our daily life.

Mr. Singh stated that the road built entirely of steel processed slag is a prime example of conversion waste into wealth and improving the sustainability of steel plants.
