BCCI today announced the India women’s squad for the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup and New Zealand Series. Mithali Raj will lead the 15-member squad with Harmanpreet Kaur named his World Cup deputy. The other players are Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (goalie), Sneh Rana, Jhulan Goswami, Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Renuka Singh Thakur, Taniya Bhatia (goalkeeper), Rajeshwari Yakwad and Paisa players waiting are Sabbhineni Meghana, Ekta Bisht and Simran Dil Bahadur.
Team India will play their first World Cup match against Pakistan on March 6, 2022 in Bay Oval, Tauranga. After the game against Pakistan, India will face New Zealand (March 10), the West Indies (March 12), England (March 16), Australia (March 19), Bangladesh (March 22) and South Africa (March 27) in the group stage.
The team will also be in the ODI v New Zealand 5-game series from 11 February 2022. The Indian women’s team for the only T20I against New Zealand is Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (Deputy Captain), Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (Guardian), Sneh Rana, Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Renuka Singh Thakur, Taniya Bhatia (Guardian), Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Poonam Yadtav, Ekta Bish .Meghna, Simran Dil Bahadur.
The match is scheduled for February 9, 2022.
