In order to attend the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and express condolences on behalf of the Government of India, President Droupadi Murmu will travel to London, United Kingdom, from September 17 through September 19.
On the eighth day of this month, Queen Elizabeth II, the former monarch of the United Kingdom and head of the Commonwealth of Nations, passed away.
On September 11, India commemorated a day of national grief.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and President Murmu have all expressed sympathy over the Queen’s passing.
“In the 70 years of reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, India-UK ties have evolved, flourished and strengthened immensely. She played an important role in the welfare of millions of people around the world as Head of the Commonwealth,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
