According to a study by Oxford Economic Papers, people who migrate from high sunshine region to low sunshine region are prone to health and skin problems. It is found that the deficiency of Vitamin D is common in such non-western immigrants, and this deficiency leads to high risk of mortality, diabetes, hypertension, skin cancer, etc.
As per research, high sunlight can cause skin pigmentation meanwhile low sunlight can lead to risk of Vitamin D deficiency. However the risk of premature death due to excess of sunrays has went down over the years. People try to avoid the harmful effects of sunlight by applying sunscreen and other lotions.
Author Dr. Thomas Barnebeck Andersen says, “This research is important because it is the first research to document a link between an increased risk of Vitamin D deficiency and differences in life expectancy across countries and regions. It thus serves to highlight the potentially huge benefit in terms of additional life years of taking Vitamin D supplements, particularly during the autumn and winter. “
