In the latest ICC World Test Championship Points Table released by ICC, India finds itself at the second spot after Australia. Even though India has more points (390) than Australia (322), ICC last month altered the point system and brought in the percentage factor owing to the disruption created by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to that Australia has 76.6% while India has 72.2% as per the latest table.
India, after losing the first test match in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, bounced backed strongly to defeat Australia by 8 wickets in the second test match, with stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane leading from the front. India bagged 30 points for this win.
The finishing top two teams will play the final match of the World Test Championship, with the calculation of points finally ending in June 2021 after the Ashes series.
New Zealand and England find themselves at no. 3 and 4, respectively in the points table. With a win over Pakistan in the recent concluded test match, New Zealand has now 360 points (66.7%).
