The ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 is throwing some really big surprises, the biggest one being Mumbai ousted in the group stages. After losing three matches in a row, Mumbai find themselves at the bottom of the Group E. In this group, Haryana and Kerala enjoy the top two positions with 12 points each.

So far, in other groups, the table toppers are Punjab and Karnataka (Group A), Tamil Nadu and Bengal (Group B), Baroda and Gujarat (Group C), Saurashtra and Rajasthan (Group D), and Bihar and Chandigarh (Plate Group).

The play-off scenario for this year’s tournament is yet not clear as there are 38 teams playing in six groups. It is likely that the quarter-final line up could include two teams each from Group A and Group B; one each from Group C, D and E, and one from Plate Group.

All play-off matches, including quarter-finals, semi-finals and the Final match will be held at the revamped Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.
