Indian Railways has awarded the work of design and manufacturing of propulsion, control & other equipments for making 44 rakes (16 car each) of ‘Vande Bharat’ type train sets.

Hyderabad-based Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd. has been awarded a contract by the Indian Railways for designing and manufacturing control, propulsion and other equipment for 44 rakes of Vande Bharat train types at a value of Rs. 2,211 crore.
Informing about this decision the Railway Ministry tweeted, “Indian Railways has awarded the work of design and manufacturing of propulsion, control & other equipment for making 44 rakes (16 car each) of ‘Vande Bharat’ type train sets.”
According to the ministry, this project will be done under the ‘Make in India’ policy and 90 percent of the content will be domestic. The officials from the ministry also informed that the train sets will be manufactured at the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, Punjab; Integral Coach Factory, Chennai; and the Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh.
