India made history by being the first nation to set foot on the South Pole of the lunar surface and the fourth nation after the former USSR, the U.S., and China to successfully make a soft landing on the lunar surface on August 23 thanks to the Lander Module (LM) of the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) third lunar mission Chandrayaan-3, which was launched on July 14.

Thanking everyone, ISRO Chairman S. Somnath remarked that they had learned from their mistakes and had succeeded today. He continued by saying that they were excited for the Chandrayaan-3 lander and Rover to arrive at the lunar surface in the following 14 days.

P Veeramuthuvel, the project director for the Chandrayaan 3 mission, commended the team for their success. He said that the landing was faultless and that India has proven its ability to perform a soft landing on the moon.
