The BJP Legislative Party elected Basavaraj S. Bommai as the new chief Minister of Karnataka. Basavaraj Bommai was the Minister of the Interior of the B.S. Yediyurappa Government. He is one of the main contenders for the position of Chief minister.
As the outgoing CM, B.S Yediyurappa ,who resigned on Monday.Bommai also belongs to the powerful Lingayat community.
Basavaraj Bommai is part of Sadara Lingayat Township. He is a confidant of B.S. Yediyurappa is from Janata Parivar.
Basawaraj Bommai joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2008 and has been growing steadily ever since. In the past, he had a series of water resources. As a professional engineer, his career began in Tata Group. MLC and MLA came from Shiggaon in the Haveli area three times.
The BJP central leadership sent senior leaders from New Delhi to attend the Legislative Party meetings as central observers.
