On Friday, Bhavinaben Patel made history by becoming the first Indian table tennis player to win a medal in the Paralympic Games, reaching the fourth-category women’s singles semi-finals with an impressive 1 win.
Borislav Peri Rankovi from Serbia entered TOKYO. The 34-year-old Indian tennis player defeated Serbian opponents 11-5,11-6,11-7 in an 18-minute quarterfinal match. She will face Chinese Zhang Miao in the semifinals on Saturday but is guaranteed at least a bronze medal.
Indian Paralympic Committee President Deepa Malik stated in a video posted to her Twitter account: “We can definitely see her medal. Tomorrow’s morning (semi-final) match is very important for the color of the medal to win. “
There were no bronze medals at the Tokyo Paralympic Table Tennis Games, and the both losers in the semifinals are guaranteed bronze medals.
