The government has rejected the CBSE Class 12 Board exam for 2021. This exam held by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been dropped in the wake of the COVID-19.

This choice was taken in a gathering led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank was missing from the gathering since he is going through treatment at AIIMS for post-COVID-related inconveniences.

“Students, parents, and teachers are naturally worried about the health of the students in such a situation. Students should not be forced to appear for exams in such a stressful situation,” said PM Modi.

“Government of India has decided to cancel the Class XII CBSE Board Exams. After extensive consultations, we have taken a decision that is student-friendly, one that safeguards the health as well as future of our youth,” PM Modi tweeted.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “I am glad that 12th exams have been canceled. All of us were very worried about the health of our children. A big relief.”

Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change; Information & Broadcasting; & Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Prakash Javadekar and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal are among those present in the meeting.
