Employees at Samsung are not permitted to use ChatGPT or other generative AI tools. The South Korean consumer electronics giant is reportedly sending out a note to its staff members advising them of the new policy.
The action was taken as a result of Samsung learning that one of its employees had uploaded private code to ChatGPT in April of this year, which put a stop to the adoption of such technology in the workplace.
According to the memo, the business is worried that information sent to artificial intelligence platforms like Google Bing and Google Bard is retained on external servers, making it harder to recover and remove and perhaps exposing the information to other users.
Samsung informed personnel that interest in generative AI systems like ChatGPT has been rising both within and externally. While this interest is concentrated on the effectiveness and efficiency of these platforms, security concerns related to generative AI are also growing.
