Microsoft has announced that Sam Altman, the former CEO of OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, will be joining the company to head a new artificial intelligence division.
Altman, fellow OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, and other former OpenAI staff members will be in charge of a “new advanced AI research team” at Microsoft, according to a Monday statement from Satya Nadella, CEO and chairman of the business.
On X, the old Twitter platform, Nadella stated, “We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success.”
With the introduction of ChatGPT and GPT-4, Altman became the public face of AI. However, the board of the firm decided that he was “not consistently candid in his communications,” leading to his unexpected termination on Friday.
