Composer Pyarelal Sharma received the Lakshminarayana International Award

The Lakshminarayana International Award was given to Pyarelal Sharma, one half of the renowned composition duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

As part of the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival, performers L Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam gave the award. On the eve of Republic Day, Pyarelal was recently named the recipient of the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India.

Throughout his eight decades-long career, Pyarelal has become one of the most successful music composers for Hindi films.

Together with music maestro Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar, the great musician has created several iconic tunes. Dosti, Hum Sab Ustad Hain, Aaye Din Bahar Ke, Mere Hamdam Mere Dost, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Bobby, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Amar Akbar Anthony, Aasha, Prem Rog, Meri Jung, and Ram Lakhan are just a few of the timeless songs that the combo Laxmikant-Pyarelal composed.
