Due to the cancellation of Kanwar Yatra due to COVID19, Har Ki Pauri Ghat in Haridwar will be closed from July 24 to August 6 due to the installation of roadblocks for Kanwariya. This decision was made at the Haridwar Interstate Boundary Meeting attended by officials from Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi and Haryana.
Haridwar SSP Senthil A Krishnaraj S stated that there are no restrictions on local and other passengers from overseas, adding that only passengers whose RTPCR is negative can enter within 72 hours.
“The meeting decided that, despite warnings, strict measures will be taken in the Kanwari area to Haridwar. In this order, from July 24 to August 6, Harki Pauri will completely close Kanwar.” Haridwar told SSP that he It also stated that severe measures will be taken against those who violate the guidelines of the Disaster Relief Law.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government of Uttarakhand cancelled this year’s Kanwar Yatra at Yatra on July 17. Shiva plans to start on July 25. Devotees from northern states walk or otherwise draw water from the Ganges. Go to Haridwar and enshrine it in the Shiva temple on its territory.
Kanwar Yatra is a Hindu pilgrimage site where followers of Lord Shiva visit Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar every year to find the holy water of the Ganges. Later, the holy water was distributed to Lord Shiva as a sacrifice in the temple.
