On August 23 India is ready for its second attempt to land on the moon. India is now only few hours away from making history
Chandrayaan-3 is slated to land its Vikram lander shortly after 6 p.m. India time near the sparsely studied lunar south pole.
The most recent venture comes only days after Russia’s first moon mission in almost 50 years, which was headed for the same region, crashed on the lunar surface. An earlier Indian attempt in 2019 ended in failure.
Since entering lunar orbit on August 5th, Vikram, the spacecraft’s lander, has been sending back photographs of the moon’s surface. Vikram separated from its propulsion module last week.
