After defeating West Indies 3-0 in the ODI series, Team India led by Rohit Sharma would like to repeat their performance at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. However, there are still areas, where the team would like to improve, especially the middle order batting. Virat Kohli has not been in his prime form and this series is a great opportunity for him to score those big hundreds he is known for.
Wicketkeeper batsman, Rishabh Pant has been named as the deputy to Rohit Sharma for this series. This could mean that BCCI wishes to get Pant mentored for the big role of captaincy, keeping the future in mind.
The series also would provide option for the team to play the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Rituraj Gaikwad, Harshal Patel. On paper, the team looks a settled outfit; however, given West Indies recent form in the T20s, anything can happen. All the three T2os can be expected to go to the wire, unless one team decides to play spoilsport.
