The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today successfully launched CMS-01 communication satellite from Sriharikota at 03.41 pm. This is the second successful mission of ISRO this year. The CMS-01 is the 42nd communication satellite of India.
K Sivan, Chairman, ISRO congratulated the team behind the success of this mission and said PSLV-50, which is carrying the satellite has successfully deployed it into the orbit. He informed that the satellite is doing well.

He further added that the satellite would move towards its specified orbit on December 21. It would carry out the functions of GSAT-12, which was launched 11 years ago.
The CMS-01 satellite has a life span of seven years, and it will serve the extended C-band coverage that include Indian mainland along with Lakshadweep and Andaman-Nicobar islands.
