Kohli likely to be rested for South Africa T20 series

Out-of-form Virat Kohli is likely to be rested for the upcoming five-match T20 Series against South Africa, which is scheduled to start on June 9 in Delhi. Kohli’s run in this year’s IPL is something he would definitely like to remove from his memory and get back to his old scoring ways.

As per sources, the team for the T20 series is to be picked towards the end of IPL. One senior official from BCCI is believed to have said that resting Kohli is more of a policy decision of giving senior players rest than anything else. Break from cricket will help him to refocus his energies, given that he has been in the bio-bubble for quite some time now. Not just Kohli, there are chances that some other senior players from the team will be rested for the series too.

The T20 series against South Africa will be played at Delhi, Cuttack, Bengaluru, Rajkot and Vishakhapatnam. Thereafter, the team will head to England to complete the rescheduled fifth test match.
