On Saturday night, President Droupadi Murmu flew into Lakshadweep for a three-day official visit. At Agatti airport, the President was given a warm greeting. Then, President Murmu landed at Kavaratti Island, where the military presented her with a formal guard of honour. At the Kavaratti Helipad, folk dancers welcomed the President by performing Paricha Kali, a traditional dance from the Lakshadweep archipelago.
The President will dedicate two desalinization facilities built by NIOT in Ameni and Kalpeni islands, with a capacity to filter 1.5 lakh litres of water per day, while he is now attending a civic event in Kavarati, the island’s capital.
