On Saturday, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways inaugurated 33 National Highways projects in Karnataka through a virtual session. These projects will cover over 1197 kms and worth Rs. 10,904 crore.
Speaking during the virtual ceremony, Shri Gadkari said that, a sum of 71 works are in progress of length 2384 kms worth Rs. 37,311 crore. He further added that approx. Rs. 1,16,144 crore will be invested by Centre in these projects in the coming years. Shri Gadkari also asked the Karnataka government to encourage production of ethanol from sugarcane to help the local farmers.
Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa conducted this online inauguration function, and it was also attended by former Prime Minister Shri H D Devegowda, Union Ministers Shri Prahlad Joshi, Shri Sadanand Gowda, Gen Dr. V K Singh, ministers from the State and other senior officers.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Yediyurappa said that these projects will boost economic growth and improve connectivity in the state.
