Opposition parties boycotted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the new parliament building today, insisting that President Droupadi Murmu should perform the honours instead.

On Sunday at 7:00 a.m., formal inauguration preparations got underway.

An inauguration plaque was unveiled by the PM. Additionally, he placed the Sengol (Sceptre) within the new Parliament Building. Parliament from the British era has been superseded with the new structure.

“This is more than just a structure. It reflects the hopes and aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians. This is the temple of our democracy, and it communicates India’s resolve to the rest of the globe, according to Modi.

There will be a museum constructed into the current parliament building.
