On Tuesday, the Union Cabinet agreed to lower the cost of LPG for all consumers by Rs 200 per cylinder. The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) recipients would now receive a total subsidy of Rs 400 every 14.2kg-LPG cylinder as a result of the price reduction that also applies to consumers who are PMUY participants.
The I&B minister said that as part of the Ujjwala programme, the Centre will also give 75 lakh new LPG connections away for free.
According to Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, “We are aware of the difficulties that families confront in managing their budgets. The decrease in cooking gas prices supports the government’s overarching objective of maintaining affordable access to necessities while also directly assisting families and individuals.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on social media, “The festival of Rakshabandhan is a day to increase happiness in our family. The reduction in gas prices will increase the comfort of the sisters in my family and make their lives easier. May every sister of mine be happy, be healthy, be happy, this is my wish from God.”
