On 14th December, NITI Aayog released a white paper named Vision 2035 – Public Health Surveillance in India. The white paper discusses the vision for country’s public health surveillance of the country by 2035, which would be carried out by integrating the three-tiered public health system into Ayushman Bharat.
The white paper also talks about the need for improved laboratory capacity and expansion of referral networks. However, for this vision to take shape, both the Centre and the states have to support each other.
Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Chairman, NITI Aayog; Dr. Vinod K Paul, Member (Health), CEO Amitabh Kant and Dr. Rakesh Sarwal, Additional Secretary released the white paper.
The vision is to make the country’s public health surveillance system more prompt and predictive to improve preparedness for action at all levels. A citizen-friendly public health surveillance system will definitely safeguard individual privacy and confidentiality, with a proper client feedback mechanism.
