To create an airline that might compete with IndiGo, the market leader, the Tata Group will merge Air India and Vistara. Partner Singapore Airlines will own 25.1% of the combined company.
In exchange for paying 2,058.5 crore in cash, Singapore Airlines, which owns 49% of full-service carrier Vistara, would receive a 25.1% interest in the combined company, according to a filing with the stock exchange on Tuesday. The remaining 74.9% will be owned by the Tata group.
