Scientist N Valarmathi of the Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO), who gave the voice for the space agency’s rocket countdown launches, passes away on Saturday night in Chennai after suffering a heart attack at the age of 64. Her final countdown was the successful Chandrayaan-3 launch on July 14.
“The voice of Valarmathi Madam will not be there for the countdowns of future missions of ISRO from Sriharikotta. Chandrayan 3 was her final countdown announcement. An unexpected demise. Feel so sad. Pranams!” Former ISRO director Dr. Venkitakrishnan wrote on X.
