Republic TV Editor, Arnab Goswami who was arrested by Alibaug police on November 4 in connection with the suicide case of interior designer-architect Anvay Naik, granted interim bail by the Apex Court on Wednesday with orders for his immediate release from jail.
The SC bench comprising Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice Indira Banerjee said in their judgement that it will be a “travesty of justice” if personal liberty is curtailed. They also showed concerned on how certain state governments are targeting few individuals for voicing their opinion. The Apex Court also said that the lower court had done wrong on its part to deny bail to Goswami.
The bench granted bail to Goswami and the other two accused for a bond of Rs. 50,000 each.
