According to a prominent English newspaper, Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani has entered the competition to purchase the prestigious English football team Liverpool FC. The Merseyside club’s current owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), who acquired the team in October 2010, have reportedly hired Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to help them sell the team. The English Premier League powerhouses have been placed on the market. The FSG are reportedly willing to sell the club for 4 billion British pounds, per “The Mirror.”
According to the English daily, Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries and the seventh richest person in the world according to Forbes, has inquired about the club.
Liverpool is one of the clubs that receives the most support and has extremely high shirt sales, and the English Premier League is immensely popular among Indian supporters.
