Early, this morning, the Deep depression formed over Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm, which has been named as ‘Nivar’. The effects of it has already been felt in several districts of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, with incessant rain since previous evening.
As per the reports of the MET Department, Chennai, the cyclonic storm is most likely to form into a severe cyclonic storm within next 24-hours. It is expected that the wind speed will be between 100 to 110 km per hour during its landfall.
PM Modi, during his interactions with Tamil Nadu CM, has assured all support from the support. Tamil Nadu CM spoke to him about the local preparations made by the administration to tackle the cyclone. Control rooms at district levels, relief centres and shelters have already been put in place, and state control room has been set up in Chennai.
Senior IAS officials have been asked to coordinate the rescue activities and mitigate the damages, which is likely to be caused by ‘Nivar’.
